Protecting Businesses from Solicitation Calls

It’s an age old adage that time is money and that saving time is like saving money. Even more so for businesses, time is of the essence. In order to run the operations of a business, employees and employers alike have to eliminate distractions or hindrances that could reduce profits or impact employee morale. It seems like one of the biggest distractions businesses face is something seemingly out of their control: sales and solicitation calls that are unwanted and unexpected.

Surprisingly, there are no laws to protect businesses from solicitation calls, only for individuals. How asinine is that? Call me crazy, but are not businesses’ livelihood just as important as individual livelihood? Thankfully there are tools the individual entrepreneur can use to diminish the havoc that unwanted solicitation calls can negatively impact the day-to-day operations of a business. Some of these easy to use techniques include using a reverse phone lookup search provider.

Because the technique furnishes data almost instantly to the provider, data like the caller’s name and/or address, almost anybody can use that information for their benefit immediately. After receiving the data, a business can take the best actions to stop sales calls from businesses. Then, a business can proceed to either contact the company directly, another organization, or even file a consumer complaint.

I still cannot help but think how silly it is that a business can file a complaint against receiving sales calls from another business to places like the Federal Communications Commission, but there are no actual laws that protect businesses. Back in ’91, the FCC made it illegal for solicited marketing calls to occur from prerecorded or automated messages if they did not follow certain standard such the particular time frame of 8am-9pm and providing their full identities. Later, the FCC partnered with the Federal Trade Commission to create more regulations, creating the Do Not Call List.

And although these regulations protect individual landlines and personal wireless numbers, businesses can only register their numbers and hope that other businesses will respect their requests. Considering how every unwanted call a business takes from a solicitor keeps that business from taking a call that could increase their profits, it seems ridiculous that an organization does not help to protect businesses more. At least there are techniques out there, like reverse phone lookup, that keep businesses even one step ahead of the United States government and that’s something to smile about.
