Drunk Driving can cost you your life: Quit now!
We all hear about drunk driving and how it can be dangerous for any one of us, whether we drink at all or not. But do we actually realize exactly how drunk driving can affect us in so many different ways? Drunk driving can lead to DUI or Driving Under the Influence but this is just the legal consequence of drunk driving.
DUI has become much more common today than it was a few years ago and a lot of lives are being claimed because of it. Even if we don’t drink and our family members don’t, that does not mean that we are not at chance of being a victim of a drunk driving accident which is why we all need to be aware of drunk driving and discourage it among our friends, family and community.
While drunk driving obviously implies that the person has a drinking problem or may even be a serious alcoholic, drunk driving accidents can happen to people who are not regular alcohol consumers as well. This may sound strange and far-fetched but such incidents are pretty common where people with no history of alcoholism are found to be drunk drivers or DUI offenders. What is scary is that a lot of regular drunk drivers are not even caught, which basically means that the roads can be dangerous for us and our family at any point in time.
Drunk driving and being a regular drunk driver, even if you don’t get caught, can be extremely harmful for your health. Apart from the fact that your mental and physical capabilities, including driving, are deeply affected, your body organs including the heart and liver become at stake because of your habit.
DUI or Driving Under the Influence is perhaps another legal and very serious disadvantage to drunk driving and it can happen to anyone even slightly suspected of drinking and driving. In short DUI can lead to a DUI conviction which means time in jail, exorbitant fines, increase in insurance, and loss in work time, community time and what not. Even if you don’t get convicted, you will still be charged with DUI and that means going through court work and legal documentation and probably even hiring a DUI attorney.
On the economic and familial side, drunk driving can cause a lot of financial and family pressures. Drunk driving is not a cheap habit and can cost you a lot in money and once you get charged with DUI, it basically means you can say good-bye to a lot of hard earned money of yours. And if you get into a DUI accident which causes bodily harm or even a life loss of someone, then it will become very likely for you to get convicted and sent to jail for quite some time.
So don’t take drunk driving lightly, whatever your age or occupation; alcohol does not suit any person’s age, gender or body size. Alcohol is supposed to make you think that you can drive safely but most of the time you cannot and you pose a threat to yourself and to others. So don’t take the chances; play it safe and either don’t drink and drive or drink but don’t drive!
